Anspach was born in Fremont (Ohio) on March 5, 1895. He attended Ashland Academy, 1909-1912, and earned a B.A. degree from Ashland College (1919). Later, he earned additional degrees. Aspach worked as registrar of Ashland College, 1923-1928, and Dean of the College, 1926-1930. In 1930 he became Head of the Dept. of Education, Eastern Michigan University. Maybee was a history professor at CMU. The Clarke Historical Library has several of his publications and his papers. The Advisory Committee developed plans for major events, publications, re-dedications of campus buildings, presentations, and a historical marker for CMU's 75th Anniversary.
